How the MBS-800 Knife Sharpening Machine Maintains Cut Quality
Knife condition directly affects cut quality and power demand. A worn edge can compress material, pull fibres and cause unplanned stops.
The MBS-800 is designed for MCT60 knives and similar industrial blades up to 800 mm. PLC pass control, a precision head on a linear slide and automatic home return support repeatable maintenance.
Signs that sharpening is due
Check knife clearance and feeding as well as the edge when symptoms appear.
- Crushed edges or pulled fibres
- Inconsistent length at the same setting
- Higher load or energy demand
- Burrs, chips or changing vibration
MBS-800 sharpening process
The knife is secured on the magnetic table. Pass count and stock removal are set through the PLC. Automatic 0.04 mm feed, a 175 mm wheel and 0–11 m/min speed allow controlled operation. Cooling and the correct wheel help prevent overheating.
Benefits of planned sharpening
Rotating a spare knife set prevents the cutter from waiting. Records based on material and cut quality establish a more useful interval than operating hours alone.
Safe maintenance basics
- Use proper handling equipment
- Clean and fully secure the knife
- Check the wheel and coolant first
- Preserve the specified edge angle
- Record each sharpening and change
